Last week we’ve learned about the different types of courts. Well, I found an interesting article about the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom.
They want to make this court open for the public. But what do they mean with that? Actually it’s very simple, the public will know where the highest court sits, and see the judges at work on television. It’s the first court ever that will do such a strange thing.
What thinks an outsider like me about this? By looking up some information I have discovered that the Supreme Court exists out of a committee of the House of Lords. If you think a little bit further you know that many people know what the Supreme Court is. So this will give more clarity in the way of working of the highest court for people who know nothing about it.
My opinion about this idea is rather negative than positive. I think that there will be a lot of discussion if the Supreme Court can be viewed on television.
Ever since, what happens in court and how they make decisions is sometimes a secret for the public. Now they will give everything away to the public and there will be no limits anymore.
See you next time!

I agree with the opinion of Lisa. If we see the judges working at the court, we can get an idea of them ruling. When we read an article in the paper, we may wander why the judges made that decision. We could think that they made perhaps the wrong decision. If we see them practicing law on television, we can understand why they made that decision. It also makes the practice of law more real to us.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI also want to react on this blog. I think it's a good idea to show how the Supreme Court works on television. Now we are allowed to see how the Court makes a certain decision and why they made a decison.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI sometimes feel like we are not allowed to know what happens behind the doors of a Supreme Court, like it's a kind of secret or something. But now everything will be more clair and the limit between the Supreme Court and 'the regular people' will fade away.
a kind of a secret!
