Woman closes contract with Be2

Last week we’ve learned in class about contracts, but everyone knows that closing a contract with other parties sometimes involves risks.

Today I was looking on the Internet and I found a story written by a man. The story is about his mother who signed up with an online dating service named Be2.
The mother is 62 years old and she doesn’t know a lot about the Internet.

The online dating service offered a one-month trial for £5, of course it didn’t stop with that amount. She didn’t cancel it and so it became an amount of £19.99 a month. The mother later tried to cancel it but without success. Be2 took £119.94 from her credit card.
As a precaution, she cancelled her credit card but later she received another demand by email from Be2. The only thing that the online dating service said was "as there is a valid contract between you and Be2, we reserve the right to take legal measures".

I find it very outrageous that such things can happen. A woman of 62 years old can’t work with Internet as we can. Often you close a contract but you don’t know the conditions.
So in my opinion they have to inform people about the conditions in a contract, even on the Internet.

  1. I agree with the opinion of Lisa, it's outrageous that the 62 years old mother has to pay such an amount of money to Be2.
On the other hand, the mother could have sought help when she doesn't know much about the internet.
